Newcastle United midfielder, Bruno Guimaraes, has seemingly ended the speculation surrounding his future with a statement affirming his dedication to the Magpies.
Since joining from Lyon in January 2022, Guimaraes has shone at Newcastle, attracting interest from major clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City.
Despite the rumours, the Brazil international has kept his focus on Newcastle, recently earning his first start as captain in a friendly against Yokohama F. Marinos.
After the match, Guimaraes took to social media to express his strong connection with the club.
“I’m very happy to be starting another season with this club that has done so much for me since my first day here,” he wrote. “I’m glad to be back and more prepared than ever to have a brilliant season and to help Newcastle reach the highest possible position!
“Another dream has come true! Being the captain of this team is everything I’ve always dreamed of but never imagined! We’re in this together, and I’m sure I’ll be more dedicated than ever to this badge.”
Earlier this summer, Newcastle faced significant financial challenges, needing to comply with Profit & Sustainability Rules by June 30 to avoid sanctions.
They even held discussions with Liverpool about selling winger Anthony Gordon. However, the sales of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh for a combined £68 million eased the financial strain.
With the financial pressure alleviated, Newcastle plans to offer Gordon a new contract, aiming to retain the core group that contributed to their strong performances last season.
Striker Alexander Isak, who scored 21 goals in 30 games last season, remains linked with a high-profile transfer.
Nonetheless, Newcastle is not under pressure to sell the Sweden international, focusing instead on building a team capable of achieving greater heights in the upcoming season.
