The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of Olakunbi Adene, a 54-year-old woman found dead in her residence on Oda Road, Akure.
According to The PUNCH, the State Police Public Relations Officer SP Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the development.
She said, “I am aware of the incident, and an investigation is currently ongoing.”
Report says her lifeless body was discovered in a pool of blood on her bed, indicating she had been murdered.
Reports indicate that Adene, who recently celebrated her 54th birthday with guests, was found dead on Sunday.
She had shown no signs of illness before her untimely death and lived with her two children.
Dele Adene, the deceased’s husband, expressed shock and disappointment over the incident, criticizing the police for not making any arrests yet.
“My wife’s body was found in a pool of blood, clearly hacked to death. I can’t believe no arrests have been made. Her phone should be tracked, and I find it hard to understand how no one in the building knew what happened,” he stated.
Tejumade, the deceased’s daughter, recounted how she learned of her mother’s death. “I came back from church and tried calling her, but her phone was off. Later, my uncle called to tell me my mother had been killed.”
The body of Olakunbi Adene has been taken to a mortuary in Akure.
