South African billionaire businessman, Elon Musk, has issued a warning that Christianity might face extinction unless believers muster the courage to uphold what is “fair and right.”
Musk’s comments appeared to be a response to the alleged mockery of Jesus Christ by drag queens during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, which he previously criticized as “extremely disrespectful to Christians.”
Taking to his X account on Saturday to express his concerns, Musk wrote, “Unless there is more bravery to stand up for what is fair and right, Christianity will perish.”
In response to a comment, Musk, who identifies as an atheist, acknowledged his belief in certain Christian principles.
“I believe in the principles of Christianity like love thy neighbor as thyself (have empathy for all) and turn the other cheek (end the cycle of retribution),” he stated.
Musk also reposted a tweet asserting, “Wokeness is a threat to civilization,” agreeing with the sentiment by adding “it is.”
Musk’s remarks reflected his continued frustration with the drag queens’ portrayal at the Paris Olympic Games, which featured a performance reminiscent of Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’.
The performance drew immediate backlash from right-wing circles, and Musk joined other conservatives, including Harrison Butker, in condemning it.
On X, Musk called the performance “extremely disrespectful to Christians.”
In a subsequent post comparing images of the performance and da Vinci’s painting, Musk commented, “Christianity has become toothless.”
As the story gained traction and other prominent figures like Donald Trump Jr. weighed in, Musk continued to voice his opinion on Saturday.
Reacting to a post about the ban on drag queen story hour in Montana, Musk wrote, “Good. Leave them kids alone.” Responding to another user who complained about the prevalence of transgender flags, Musk agreed, “True, it’s gone too far. Acceptance is fine, but being relentlessly pushed everywhere you go is not cool.”
Regarding his personal beliefs, he reiterated, “I believe in the principles of Christianity like love thy neighbor as thyself, have empathy for all, and turn the other cheek, end the cycle of retribution.”
Despite his criticisms, Musk found one positive aspect of the Paris Olympics ceremony, “The lasers were great,” the Tesla CEO remarked.
