Super Eagles star, Chidera Ejuke, has been named MVP as he led Sevilla to victory in the Antonio Puerta Trophy.
The 26-year-old has been generating buzz following his standout performance for Sevilla ahead of the new season.
In a strong showing at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, Sevilla clinched the Antonio Puerta Trophy once again.
The decisive goal came from a penalty by Lucas Ocampos in the first half, securing the team’s eleventh title in the tournament.
The match against Al-Ittihad marked Sevilla’s first victory in their preseason campaign, having faced four international teams for the trophy.
From the outset, Sevilla dominated, with Ejuke playing a crucial role. His early attempts to penetrate the Saudi team’s defense included a shot that, despite not finding the net, was deflected by a defender and almost resulted in a goal.
Ejuke continued to impress with his relentless energy and constant threat to the opposition’s defense.
In the 64th minute, he was substituted for Suso to the applause of the fans, as Sevilla successfully maintained their lead.
Ejuke’s exceptional performance earned him the Man of the Match accolade for the final.
