Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has called for the postponement of a nationwide protest, urging organizers and citizens to exercise caution and seek change through the ballot box instead.
According to The PUNCH, Kwankwaso in a statement emphasized the importance of addressing grievances through democratic means rather than protests.
Kwankwaso urged Nigerian leaders at all levels to tackle the various challenges facing the country by ensuring good governance and adherence to the rule of law.
He expressed concern over issues such as federal interference in Kano State chieftaincy matters, the impeachment of the Deputy Governor of Edo State, political crises in Rivers State, and other conflicts.
Reflecting on the nation’s hardships, Kwankwaso noted that leadership missteps since 2007 have contributed to the current situation but stressed that there is still an opportunity for correction and progress.
He appealed for patience with the Bola Tinubu government, urging citizens to support its efforts.
“Protests, while a fundamental democratic right, often come with unforeseen and dire consequences,” Kwankwaso stated, highlighting the potential for violence and chaos.
He urged Nigerians to prioritize the country’s well-being and channel their energies into peaceful and effective transformation through voting.
Kwankwaso’s message calls for a collective effort to address Nigeria’s challenges and underscores the importance of democratic processes in achieving long-term change
