Former Golden Eaglets striker, Stanley Iheanacho, has joined Liga Portugal 2 side Clube Deportivo de Mafra, as announced by the club on their official website.
Just a week after goalkeeper Mark Ugboh’s arrival, Danish Superliga team FC Midtjylland has transferred another promising Nigerian youngster to CD Mafra.
Iheanacho has signed a five-year contract with CD Mafra, committing to the club until June 2029, and permanently leaving The Wolves.
An alumnus of FC Hearts, an Abuja-based academy that also produced ex-Nigeria U17 captain Musa Muhammed and Ifeanyi Mathew, the 19-year-old striker made a notable debut for FC Midtjylland by netting four goals in a Cup match against Aabenraa BK in September 2023.
Despite his remarkable debut, Iheanacho couldn’t secure a spot in Midtjylland’s first team and leaves the Central Jutland club without making his Danish top division debut.
Iheanacho was a key player in the youth team squad that won the U19 Boys League last season, scoring 12 goals in 22 matches and featuring in four UEFA Youth League games.
The 2005-born forward might make his competitive debut for CD Mafra on August 11, when they face Paços Ferreira.
