Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has once again appointed an additional 573 political aides.
This was revealed in a statement released to the press early Tuesday.
The announcement, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps, revealed that apart from commissioners, the state now boasts a total of 707 special aides.
Similar to the previous 134 appointees who remain unassigned, the new appointees are expected to serve in various capacities such as Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, Special Advisers, and Community Special Assistants.
While the governor’s decision is framed as a step towards enhancing governance and service delivery in the state, some concerned residents have expressed dissent.
A party chieftain, speaking anonymously, criticized the move, describing it as unnecessary and unlikely to spur development amidst the current economic challenges.
“With the prevailing economic hardship, I personally don’t see the wisdom in hiring such a large number of political aides,” remarked the party chieftain.
