The Super Falcons have enlisted the expertise of a performance and match reading analyst for the women’s football event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
An analysis scout, Poncho Serna, revealed on his X handle (formerly Twitter) that he will join the Super Falcons as a performance analyst for the Olympics.
“I am very happy and excited to share this: during the Olympics Games I will be working with the Nigerian women’s team (@NGSuper_Falcons), in the area of performance analysis,” Serna posted. “When one door closes, a better one opens. To continue learning and enjoying.”
The nine-time African champions, who last appeared in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in China in 2008, are set to face the reigning Olympic champions, Canada, in a training match in Sevilla on Wednesday, July 17.
Randy Waldrum’s squad is placed in Group C alongside Spain, Japan, and Brazil.
Their first Olympic match will be against Brazil on July 25.
Three days later, they will play Spain in their second group game before concluding their group stage against the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup champions, Japan.
The team is currently training in the city of Jerez de la Frontera near Sevilla in preparation for the Olympics.
