The Nigeria National League has refuted claims that the 2024/25 season is set to commence in October.
The NNL’s Chief Operating Officer, Emmanuel Attah, clarified that a formal process must be completed before any announcement regarding the new season’s start date can be made.
Addressing the media, Attah stated, “We cannot just stay in the office to decide the kick-off date of the League.”
He emphasized the importance of holding the Annual General Meeting first, during which an evaluation of the previous season is conducted, and approval for the upcoming season is secured.
“We need to have the Annual General Meeting of the body where an appraisal of the last season will be done, and approval for the new season shall be effected,” Attah explained.
He expressed uncertainty about the source of the October kick-off date rumours, saying, “We don’t know where the kick-off date of October emanated from.”
Concluding, he assured, “To the best of my knowledge, we have not fixed any date for the kick-off of the NNL. When such happens, we will let everyone know.”
