The Niger State Police Command has apprehended Mohammed Isah for the murder of Nurudeen Nuhu in Kwata Tayi village’s Abattoir area, located on the outskirts of Minna, last Saturday.
The conflict, which stemmed from a disagreement over a phone, escalated into violence.
Reportedly, Nurudeen, a resident of Anguwan-Daji, was fatally stabbed by Mohammed, who hails from Anguwan-Biri, both suburbs of Minna, during an altercation concerning a phone.
During the confrontation, Mohammed allegedly plunged a knife into Nurudeen’s abdomen, causing him to collapse.
Nurudeen was urgently transported to the hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
Spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, detailed that the incident was reported at the GRA Division on 29/06/2024 around 10 AM.
He stated, “During the fight, Mohammed Isah allegedly stabbed Nurudeen with a knife in the stomach. Police operatives attached to the Division moved to the scene and rushed the victim to the General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.”
Abiodun said following the incident, Mohammed Isah was detained, and preliminary investigations are underway.
According to Abiodun, “He will soon be transferred to SCID for further investigation and prosecution.”
Additionally, police patrol units have been deployed to the area to maintain order, and the situation has returned to normal.
