Princess Anne, sister of King Charles III, has returned to her Gatcombe Park home after spending five nights in the hospital due to minor head injuries and a concussion.
Departing privately, the Princess Royal headed back to her residence on Friday morning, according to Buckingham Palace.
During her time at home, she will continue resting and recovering until her medical team deems her fit to resume public duties.
The 73-year-old Princess Anne was admitted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol following an incident at the Gatcombe Park estate on Sunday evening, as previously stated by the palace.
The palace assured that she is expected to make a “full and swift recovery,” with King Charles being kept informed and sending his “fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery.”
Details of the incident causing Princess Anne’s injuries were not disclosed by Buckingham Palace.
However, her medical team indicated that the injuries were consistent with an impact from a horse’s head or legs.
Her husband, Timothy Laurence, was by her side at Southmead Hospital.
In a statement on Friday, Laurence expressed gratitude, “I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all the team at Southmead Hospital for their care, expertise and kindness during my wife’s short stay.”
Previously, the palace mentioned that Princess Anne was “recovering well” after being hospitalized for minor injuries and a concussion.
Known for her numerous official engagements, Princess Anne recently attended Royal Ascot alongside other royal family members, including Prince William. Princess Kate, however, was absent due to her ongoing cancer treatment.
Having undergone abdominal surgery in January, the Princess of Wales made a public return at the Trooping the Colour.
In a statement, she expressed her intentions to attend “a few public engagements over the summer” while acknowledging her ongoing health battle.
“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty,” Princess Kate said. “Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”
