The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, Mr Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest of operatives of the EFCC involved in the manhandling of a female staff member at Regional Hotel in Lagos, as seen in a viral video.
This information was disclosed in a statement by Dele Oyewale, the Commission’s Media and Publicity Head, on Thursday.
In a viral video, EFCC officers were seen assaulting a female staff member of Regional Hotel during an early morning sting operation in Lagos. The raid resulted in the apprehension of numerous suspects who are currently being profiled.
The EFCC Chairman has initiated a thorough investigation into the conduct of the operation and has promised that any officers found guilty of misconduct will face appropriate disciplinary actions.
Olukoyede reassured the public that the EFCC remains committed to carrying out its duties professionally and with utmost respect for the rule of law.
The statement read, “Regional Hotel Operation: Olukoyede Orders Arrest of Officers Involved in Unprofessional Conduct.
“The officers were sighted in a viral video assaulting the staff of the hotel in an early morning sting operation in Lagos. The operation yielded a sizable number of suspects who are still being profiled.
“The EFCC’s boss has also ordered detailed investigations of the operation carried out at the hotel and assured that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against any of the officers found to be culpable.
“Olukoyede assures the general public that the EFCC would continue to ply its job professionally and with profound respect for the rule of law.”
