The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has called on the public to ignore communications from a specific WhatsApp number, which has been falsely representing him on social media.
In a press release issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori, the Minister identified the impersonator’s number as +234 707 743 7582, which has been used along with a photo of Alake.
The statement emphasized that neither the Minister, his aides, nor anyone else associated with his office is connected to the number.
Alake advised the public to disregard any messages from this contact.
“This is the handiwork of an impostor. The Minister urges the public to disregard any correspondence or communication supposedly from him through the said contact number.
“This serves as a disclaimer while we work with the security agencies to identify the culprit and bring upon him the full weight of the law,” the media aide stated.
Alake assured that the matter has been reported to security agencies to ensure the perpetrator is apprehended and dealt with accordingly.
