The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, on Sunday will award the Nigeria Premier Football League champion’s trophy to Rangers International FC of Enugu.
The announcement was made by the NFF media team on Saturday, noting that this ceremony is scheduled to take place at the New Zaria Road Stadium in Jos.
A distinguished group of guests, including the NFF leader, is expected to attend the event.
The champions, who secured their eighth Nigeria title with a 2-0 victory over Bendel Insurance at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium last weekend, will face the relegated Gombe United FC in a game that will evoke contrasting emotions.
The beloved Savannah Scorpions are already preparing for life in the Nigeria National League, while the Flying Antelopes, the 1977 Africa Cup Winners’ Cup champions, look forward to representing Nigeria in the CAF Champions League after many years.
After the match, the champions have announced plans to return to Enugu from Jos aboard a chartered aircraft, accompanied by the trophy.
This event is expected to be attended by Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.
Rangers, currently with 67 points, aim to reach 70 points by securing three more from Sunday’s final game, according to the club’s CEO, Barr. Ameobi Ezeaku.
In the reverse fixture at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Rangers triumphed with a decisive 4-1 win, featuring two goals by top scorer Godwin Obaje and additional goals from Chidiebere Nwobodo and Kenechukwu Agu.
