Gunmen believed to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted a traditional title holder in Shabu, a town near the outskirts of Lafia metropolis.
The Nasarawa State Police Command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the abduction of Shuaibu, stating that efforts are in full swing to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the victim’s safe return.
Alhaji Musa Shuaibu, known as Madakin Shabu, was kidnapped around 8:00 pm on Thursday.
The incident has left the residents in a state of turmoil, as the abductors fired shots into the air during the operation, causing widespread panic and prompting people to flee for safety.
According to eyewitnesses, the abduction occurred just minutes after the evening prayer, Isha’i, while Shuaibu was on his way home, a short distance from the mosque.
One worshipper, who wished to remain anonymous, remarked, “The bloodthirsty kidnappers were well-armed and ready to kill at the slightest provocation.”
Commenting further on the situation, the PPRO stated, “It is true. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the criminals and rescue the victim.”
