The Kano State Government has ordered the demolition of the palace belonging to Aminu Ado-Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano.
The state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Dederi, stated that the demolition is intended to facilitate the renovation of the palace.
Additionally, Dederi revealed that the Commissioner of Police has been instructed to evict Bayero from his current residence at the Nasarawa GRA mini palace.
During a press conference, Dederi mentioned that the government has “concluded arrangements for the general reconstruction and renovation of the property including the demolishing and reconstruction of the dilapidated wall fence with immediate effect.”
This decision follows a few hours after the Federal High Court’s ruling on the substantive suit, which validated the Kano Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024 but nullified all actions taken by Governor Abba Yusuf subsequent to the law’s enactment.
