Super Eagles star, Wilfred Ndidi is looking forward to the upcoming match against former Nigeria national team head coach Gernot Rohr, eager to demonstrate that Rohr missed out on something special with the team.
Rohr, who managed the Super Eagles from 2016 to 2021, will now lead the Squirrels of Benin Republic in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Monday. The match will take place at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
Ndidi expressed that facing the Frenchman serves as a significant motivation for the Super Eagles.
“Gernot Rohr, he coached us for five years, but within those years players are coming, players are going,” the Leicester City player said during a press conference ahead of the game.
“Facing him is actually a motivation because we know he’s a good coach, and we know he’s going to plan to win.
“We approaching that game we have to show him that he actually missed something in the team, that’s what we have to do now.”
