A final year student of the Electrical Electronics Department at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, has tragically lost his life to armed robbery.
The student, identified as Saviour, was shot dead on Saturday night in Ikot Ekpene local government area, reportedly while attempting to resist the theft of his cellphone.
According to Vanguard, eyewitnesses said the armed robbers opened fire on Saviour as he tried to raise an alarm, leading to his untimely death. The incident occurred at approximately 8pm near the student’s residence in Ikot Uboh, Ikot Ekpene LGA.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John simply said police command was aware of the unfortunate incident and have already swung into action.
“The perpetrators will be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law. It is the determination of CP Waheed Ayilara to rid Akwa Ibom State of criminal elements. And this is not negotiable”, She assured
