Zamfara State Government has said it will commence compulsory operation on Monday 10th June, 2024, to arrest operators of tricycles who have not registered with the Board.
This was announced by the Executive chairperson of the Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service, Hajiya Rakiya Ahmed Dodo, through the Director Information and Intelligence Gathering, Alhaji Hadi Bawa Gusau, while speaking with newsman in Gusau, the state capital on Saturday.
Dodo said this became imperative considering that some disgruntled elements hide behind the business to carry out their criminal activities on innocent citizens in the society.
The Executive chairperson further said, “by this directive therefore, all operators are expected to register their vehicles immediately in order to avoid being fined by the enforcement team of the Service that will commence operation on Monday next week.”
The ZSIRS boss added that the introduction of the compulsory registration was to assist in the reduction of security challenges being experienced in the state.
The Zamfara State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps had previously highlighted the importance of ongoing data capturing for motorcycle and tricycle riders in enhancing traffic management and security in the state.
Speaking to journalists in Gusau in May, the state capital, the Sector Commander, Musa Udu, praised the state government’s urban renewal projects, the State Roads Traffic Agency, and the data capturing initiative for motorcycle and tricycle riders.
Udu, who is newly assigned to the command, emphasized that the data capturing process would significantly aid the FRSC in traffic control and management, as well as in easily identifying and apprehending offenders.
He also commended other security agencies for their collaboration and ongoing support, particularly in intelligence sharing, which has greatly benefited the FRSC during operations.
“On my resumption to the State as the boss of the FRSC in the State, I receive all the security agencies on courtesy visit, this demonstrates good working relationship and collaborative effort in dealing with the state challenges”, he added.
