Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has turned his attention to the upcoming match against the Squirrels of Benin Republic on Monday.
Following a disappointing 1-1 draw with South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Uyo on Friday, the three-time African champions are now in need of a victory to revive their qualification hopes.
Despite the setback, Iwobi is focused on moving forward and addressing the next challenge.
“Not The Result Wanted… Another Game To Look Forward To,” the Fulham playmaker shared on X. The Super Eagles are currently in fifth position in Group C.

The Crocodiles now lead ahead of Nigeria and South Africa, while Zimbabwe finds itself at the bottom.
Group F Slshowdown: Ivory Coast 1-0 Gabon

Gabon, despite their efforts, stayed in second place with their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang unable to alter the outcome.
Group E encounter: Morocco 2-1 Zambia
Morocco maintained their lead in Group E with a 2-1 victory over Zambia at Stade d’Agadir. Hakim Ziyech’s early penalty in the 6th minute set the tone, and Eliesse Ben Seghir added a second goal in the 67th minute. Edward Chilufya’s late strike for Zambia wasn’t enough to stage a comeback, leaving Morocco three points ahead in the group.
Group G battle: Mozambique 2-1 Somalia
Mozambique overcame Somalia 2-1 at Estádio Nacional do Zimpeto. Alfons Amade and Stanley Ratifo scored in the first half for the Mambas, while Ismail Shirwa netted a consolation goal for Somalia in the second half. Group D clash: Angola 1-0 Eswatini
Angola secured their first set of maximum points in Group D with a narrow 1-0 win over Eswatini at Estádio 11 de Novembro. Mabululu’s goal in the second minute was enough to settle the match, although Angola still trails the group leaders. Eswatini, having lost all three matches, sit at the bottom of the group.
Group F draw: Kenya 1-1 Burundi
In a tightly contested Group F match, Kenya and Burundi played out a 1-1 draw. Duke Abuya gave Kenya the lead in the 72nd minute, but Mike Abdallah’s late equalizer in the 85th minute ensured the points were shared. Both teams now sit on four points, with Kenya in third and Burundi in fourth.
Group G result: Uganda 1-0 Botswana
Uganda continued their winning streak in Group G with a 1-0 victory over Botswana at Nelson Mandela National Stadium. Substitute Muhammad Shaban scored the decisive goal, marking Uganda’s second straight win. Botswana, with two losses, is placed fifth in the group.
Group I contest: Madagascar 2-1 Comoros
Madagascar edged out Comoros 2-1 in their Group I encounter. Rayan Raveloson scored twice for Madagascar, in the 1st and 66th minutes.
El Fardou Mohamed Ben Nabouhane’s stoppage-time goal for Comoros was too little, too late. Madagascar tops the group, with Comoros in second and Ghana trailing in third.
These results highlight the unpredictable and fiercely competitive nature of the World Cup qualifiers in Africa, as teams continue their quest for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
