The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, are currently engaged in discussions with organized labour representatives in Abuja.
This meeting aims to broker a compromise to avert the looming indefinite strike announced by the Nigerian Labour Congress.
The organized labour is advocating for a substantial increase in the minimum wage, proposing N494,000 for workers.
Conversely, the Nigerian government has countered with a proposal of N60,000, arguing that the figure suggested by labour is impractical.
Amid this standoff, the NLC and the Trade Union Congress have issued a warning of a strike starting Monday if their demands are not addressed.
