Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has welcomed the return of his colleague Maduka Okoye to the team, dispelling any notions of rivalry between them.
Nwabali, who solidified his position as the Super Eagles’ first-choice goalkeeper during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, expressed his happiness over Okoye’s inclusion.
Head coach Finidi George has recalled Okoye to the team following a stellar debut season at Serie A club Udinese, adding depth and competition to the goalkeeping department.
Speaking to Lagos Talks, Nwabali emphasized the positive impact of Okoye’s return, highlighting the healthy competition it brings to the team.
“There’s no debate. If Maduka can give what he’s giving Udinese to the country, then he should play.
“It’s not like a club side, where you see a new signing and you talk about fighting, No. This is the country we are playing for, we are representing this green white green, and we want to see everyone happy.”
