Former Senate President, Ameh Ebute, has urged President Bola Tinubu to reduce fuel prices in Nigeria.
Addressing journalists in Calabar, the Cross State capital, Ebute, who briefly held the Senate President position in November 1993 during the Second Republic, highlighted the severe hardship caused by the high cost of fuel.
He advised President Tinubu to explore measures to lower the pump price of petroleum products to alleviate the country’s economic challenges.
“Tinubu should work seriously at taming the suffering of the people and ensuring peace, because without foods, it can easily ignite anger.
“I want to advise him to look at bringing down prices of food in the country. To do this, he should reverse the price of fuel.
“As soon as fuel pump price reduces, costs of food will reduce,” he said.
He acknowledged that, despite the country’s hyperinflation, Tinubu’s governance under his Renewed Hope Agenda has not been poor.
