Cristiano Ronaldo made history in the Saudi Pro League, setting a new record for the most goals scored in a single season.
His remarkable feat came in Al Nassr’s final game, where he found the net twice, bringing his total for the season to an impressive 35 goals.
Reflecting on his achievement, the 39-year-old Portuguese forward tweeted, “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me.”
Playing for Al Nassr against Al Ittihad, Ronaldo scored just before halftime and then again in the 69th minute with a header, helping his team secure a 4-2 victory at home.
This milestone surpasses the previous record of 34 goals set by Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah during the 2018-19 season.
Despite Al Nassr’s second-place finish, trailing champions Al Hilal by 14 points, Ronaldo’s impact on the league has been significant since joining the Riyadh-based club in December 2022.
His exceptional performances have not gone unnoticed, as he has been selected to represent Portugal at the upcoming Euros in Germany, marking his 11th international tournament appearance.
Ronaldo holds the record for the most caps in men’s international football with 206 appearances and has scored an unmatched 128 goals for his country.
