The Super Eagles camp has received a significant boost ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, with Victor Osimhen making a timely return.
The 25-year-old forward, who had been out with a muscle injury since May 11, marked his comeback at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday.
Reports suggested that his inclusion in the match was partly to bid farewell to Napoli fans, as he is potentially on the move to Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain.
Victor Osimhen played for 25 minutes and came close to scoring with a last-minute header.
Provided Osimhen remains injury-free during the upcoming training sessions, he is expected to start against South Africa on June 7.
However, the fitness of another key player, Samuel Chukwueze, remains in question. The AC Milan winger missed the final season match against Salernitana due to a hamstring injury, casting doubt on his availability for the forthcoming international fixtures.
