Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, recently shared a candid reflection on his storied playing career, revealing his only regret.
Speaking on Brila FM, Finidi expressed that his regret stems from not signing for Real Madrid.
The former Nigerian international, renowned for his time at Ajax, chose to join Real Betis in LaLiga after departing the Dutch club.
Despite his success at Betis, Finidi disclosed that he was on the brink of signing with Real Madrid before opting for Betis, a decision that did not come to fruition in the end.
“My only regret is not signing for Real Madrid. The Real Madrid you know now is different from 25 years ago.
“They were struggling with money and couldn’t reach an agreement with Ajax. I had already agreed on personal terms with Madrid and spoken with Coach Capello.
“I had a pre-contract, but Real Madrid and Ajax couldn’t agree on the transfer fee,” the Super Eagles coach said.
