The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Wednesday, launched a new office dedicated to processing Advance Passenger Information and Passenger Name Record.
Keyamo disclosed this in a post on X.com on Thursday, stating that it was a significant step towards enhanced border security, and to facilitate legitimate travel.
He wrote, “Yesterday, along with my colleague, the HM Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, we unveiled the new Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) office at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters.
“API/PNR are two technical responses to streamline traveler identification management and facilitate border management.”
He added that this development was a product of effective collaboration between government agencies private sector.
He added, “This solution will help to maintain the delicate balance between facilitating cross-border movements and upholding border security.
“It is a product of effective cooperation between government agencies, the private sector and relevant international actors.”
He emphasized that API and PNR are technical solutions designed to improve the efficiency of border management.
The minister highlighted that this achievement is a result of effective collaboration between government agencies, the private sector, and international partners.
He noted that this cooperation has enabled the development of a solution that balances the need to facilitate cross-border movements with the importance of maintaining robust border security.
The new office, located at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters, is expected to play a critical role in enhancing the country’s border management capabilities and promoting national security.
