Popular socialite and nightlife promoter, Cubana Chief Priest, was on Thursday at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on May 2nd, as his trial for alleged naira abuse continued.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had filed a three-count charge against him on April 16th, accusing him of mishandling the Nigerian currency.
Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, pleaded not guilty to the charges when he was first arraigned on April 17th.
The presiding judge granted him bail in the sum of N10 million, with two sureties required to perfect the bail conditions within seven days.
The case was adjourned until May 2nd for further proceedings, and Chief Priest’s appearance in court marks the next stage in the trial.
The EFCC’s prosecution team will likely present evidence and witnesses to support their case against the defendant, who faces charges related to the abuse and mishandling of the naira.
