Content creator and entertainer, Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, has criticized Wizkid for referring to Don Jazzy as an ‘influencer’.
Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, in a recent rant on X, expressed that he had a lot on his mind but refrained from speaking out as his words might be offensive.
“Everyday I get things to say but my mouth no good,” he wrote.
Wizkid then took aim at Don Jazzy, the head of Mavin Records, over a comment made by Ladipoe regarding Afrobeats artistes.
Ladipoe had challenged Afrobeats artists to uphold the culture, much like their counterparts in the hip-hop genre.
“Nigerian rappers that survived ‘hip hop is dead’ watching Afrobeat artists go through their own,” he wrote.
Netizens who connected the dots to Ladipoe’s tweet questioned Wizkid, who now prefers not to be identified as an Afrobeats singer, to address the issue.
Wizkid reacted by saying he wouldn’t want to address a person signed to an influencer, indirectly noting that Ladipoe wasn’t worth his attention and belittling the music powerhouse Don Jazzy, who is also into influencing gigs. Wiz wrote, “lol, never chatting to anyone signed to an influencer. Next.”
Reacting to Wizkid tweet, Mr Macaroni write on X, “Donjazzy is perhaps the biggest Entertainment Influencer in Africa. And the beautiful thing is that his influence cuts across. From music, to contents, films, brands etc.
“However, we would all be hypocrites to say that the context in which he was called an influencer isn’t disrespectful to everything he has done and is still doing for the Nigerian Music Industry.
“An absolute legend. He promotes Music Artistes even outside his record label. Gives free advice and visibility to up and coming artists, shows love to everyone irrespective of their status. I am also a beneficiary of his phenomenal influence!
“Don Baba J!!!! Your Influence Choke!!!.”
