At least four people have been said to have been killed on Sunday night and many wounded as suspected herdsmen invaded Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.
According to The PUNCH, residents say that the herdsmen attacked mourners at Ugwuijoro Nimbo community killing four people instantly.
Although some residents said four corpses had been recovered, the community have formed search parties as so many people are currently missing.
One of the residents, Chijoke Okunna told our correspondent that seven people were seriously inflicted with machete cuts.
He gave the names of some of the victims as Okeh Simon Ugwu, Oruku Okeh Chukwuebuka, Julius Ogbonna Odiegwu and Gabriel Ugwor Ezea.
The Enugu Police command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident, however, could not immediately provide details.
He said, “Please I am putting something together on the attack. You will get it soonest.”
