The Peoples Development Network, a Civil Society Organisation, has stated that the series of baseless attacks on the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, will not anytime soon
The Public Relations Officer of the group, Ajibade Daniel, said this in a statement on Saturday.
This insight was shared by the organization’s Public Relations Officer, Ajibade Daniel in a statement.
Ajibade said, ”In continuation of their sinister plot to illegally incite the removal of Arc. Sunny Echono as Executive Secretary of Tetfund, the detractors will likely attack the agency’s research programmes and academic staff training next.
“They know what they are doing as they are aware and informed on the operations of the agency, but it is easy to mislead and misinform the public who are not intimated on the processes of the agency.
” Everyone knows that TETFund faithfully implements disbursement guidelines as approved by the president in relation to both physical and content components of their interventions.
“We have followed the issue very closely, and reports by some segments of the media have shown that they are available tools in the ongoing attempt to destroy the Agency. It is clear that TETFund is currently under siege by desperate office seekers.
“We were there the day ASUU President commended TETFund under its present leadership and how reforms has ensured the Agency is taking a new path in its interventions in tertiary institutions, ” It said.
Expanding on his statement, Ajibade mentioned that certain media platforms have been biased in their reporting, citing an example where a medium falsely claimed that the Executive Secretary of the Agency had been detained by the ICPC, even though he had not been invited for questioning.
This, according to Ajibade, indicates a malicious intent behind the extensive coverage, suggesting that such reporting does not align with journalistic standards.
