Popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, recently stated that his family is involved in the distribution of electricity to major parts of the nation.
Davido made these claims during an appearance on an American podcast called ‘Business Untitled,’ where he discussed his family’s business ventures and personal investments.
The Afrobeats singer explained that his family owns four power plants, which make a significant contribution to Nigeria’s energy needs.
“I once tried to venture into cryptocurrency because Nigeria has a big crypto scene. Besides that, my family and I own four valuable power plants through which we distribute energy to much of Nigeria.
“My wife is passionate about culinary arts, and we’re working on opening a restaurant for her. However, my primary focus remains on my music, which is what I love,” he said.
While Davido hails from a wealthy family with investments in the energy sector, many observers would likely dispute his assertion that his family supplies most of Nigeria’s energy needs.
The majority of Nigeria’s major thermal and hydropower plants are government-owned.
