A leading Palestinian militant group, Hamas, has backed Iran’s decision to attack Israel.
Hamas expressed their support in a statement in reaction to Iran’s attack on Israel.
Hamas, an ally of Iran specifically defended Tehran’s drone and missile attack on Israel that began on Saturday.

Iran, in retaliation to the attack on its embassy in Syria, which claimed the lives of some of the country’s top officials, launched over 300 drone and missile attacks towards Israel on Saturday.
“We in Hamas regard the military operation conducted by the Islamic Republic of Iran a natural right and a deserved response to the crime of targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus and the assassination of several leaders of the Revolutionary Guards,” Hamas said in a statement.
Hamas was the first to attack Israel, killing about 1,200 people and abducting another 250.
More than 33,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 76,00 injured in retaliatory Israeli strikes on Gaza since 7 October.
