As preparations for the Easter celebrations intensify, the Oyo State of Commissioner of Police Adebola A. Hamzat on Thursday announced heightened security measures across the state to ensure peace and safety during the festive period.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Osifeso Adewale, the command outlined the proactive steps taken to maintain tranquility throughout the holidays and beyond. These measures include the effective deployment of operational, intelligence, and tactical assets, characterized by visibility policing, surveillance, and confidence-building patrols.
Furthermore, the command emphasized intelligence-led stop and search operations to preempt any potential security threats during the Easter festivities. Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and tactical commanders have been tasked to personally lead patrols across critical infrastructure, media houses, correctional facilities, banks, places of worship, recreational centers, public spaces, and entry and exit points within and outside the state.
The statement reads in part, “Consequent upon the above, the CP has tasked Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and tactical commanders to personally lead patrols across all Government critical infrastructure, Media Houses, Correctional facilities, Banks, Places of Worship, Recreational Centers, Public spaces and all entry and exit points within and outside the State.
“While felicitating with the Christians and indeed all the good people of Oyo State, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command has re-affirmed the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property and in the same direction, it enjoins residents particularly Christians to reflect on the virtues of forgiveness, peace, tolerance, selflessness and love.
