Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon will undergo surgery for a fractured left leg ankle injury on Friday.
Nantes, his French Ligue 1 club disclosed this.
Simon sustained the injury in Nigeria’s friendly defeat to the Eagles of Mali on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old collided with Mali goalkeeper Mamadou Samassa in the first half of the encounter played at the Grande Stade de Marrakech.
Nantes confirmed on Wednesday the pacy winger will not play again this season.
Simon’s absence will be a big blow for the Canaries, who are battling to escape relegation this season.
The Nigerian is one of the team’s major attacking weapons having scored three goals and provided six assists in the current campaign.
He recently signed a new three-year contract with Nantes as initial contract was due to run out this summer.
