National leadership of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria has inaugurated Lagos State branch.
President of RTEAN, Musa Maitakobi, disclosed this while speaking during the inauguration in Abuja on Thursday.
He urged the union to be peaceful in addressing issues instead of resorting to protest or thuggery.
The branch was reconstituted following the federal government’s intervention in the 15-month suspension of the activities of the association in the state.
The state had suspended RTEAN in September 2022 and constituted a Caretaker Committee.
However, last month, it lifted the ban, leading to reconstitution of the executives.
Speaking further, Maitakobi urged members to avoid breaking rules and uphold professionalism.
“It is our duty to eradicate hooliganism or thuggery in motor parks. Peace is the solution to achieve your aim,” he said.
The RTEAN president charged the newly elected chairman of Lagos State branch, His Royal Highness, Oba Sulaiman Raji Adeshina, to immediately resolve all pending issues in the branch.
In his acceptance speech, Adeshina appreciated the body of RTEAN for being elected as the chairman of Lagos State.
Adeshina who noted importance of team work towards achieving goals, vow to carry the association to a higher level
The chairman enjoined members and executives to work as one family.
“I pledge to do my best and carry RTEAN to a higher level. I plead for all the members and executives to work together as one family”, he said.
