The All Progressives Congress on Friday bid farewell to the late governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Akeredolu will be buried on Friday (today) in his hometown Owo, Owo Local Government Area of the State.
Akeredolu was the governor of Ondo State under the umbrella of the APC for almost seven years before he transited to glory on December 27, 2023 after battling cancer.
The APC’s farewell message was contained in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka.
The statement described Akeredolu’s exit as a great loss to the APC family.
The statement reads in part, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) bids farewell to the late Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu,SAN, CON, whose burial concludes today.
“Until his passing, Akeredolu was a second term Executive Governor of Ondo State. A legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, the departed former Governor served as President of the Nigerian Bar Association prior to his election as Governor in 2016.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the late Governor’s family, the Ondo State government and the good people of the State at this difficult time.
“We pray that you find comfort in fond memories and indelible footprints the late Governor has left in the patriotic service of the state and country.
“We extend our condolences to the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NSF) over the demise of their iconic colleague.
“As we mourn, we are thankful for the extraordinary life Akeredolu lived and the many gifts he brought to his professional and political engagements. His exit is a massive loss to our great Party and the country”.
