Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has revealed that he will be donating the sum of N300 million through his foundation, the David Adeleke Foundation, to orphanages across the country.
The singer in a post on his X formerly Twitter handle says details of the fund’s disbursement will be disclosed Wednesday.
This, he said, is part of his annual contribution to the nation.
“I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria … as my yearly contribution to the Nation ❤ .. details of disbursement tomorrow 🇳🇬”
Meanwhile Netizens have taken to X to react to the announcement.
An X user @ harrizone98 wrote, “Na people wey no be orphans go complain pass say no evidence. If you need evidence, go be orphan first.”
Another user, @BashirAhmaad said “God bless you, David. 🙏🏽”
@OGBdeyforyou hailed the singer, he said” Omo, nobody do good reach Davido for this life, 001, OBO, agbatagbiti, Best in the world, nobody is coming close 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾”.
Davido had last year through his foundation donated N237m to some orphanages across the country.
“I’ve always wanted to use my platform to serve others. Thankful that through your generosity, I’ve been able to do so,” he said in a social media post on Thursday evening.
“We recently disbursed over N200m to several orphanages in Nigeria, a tradition that started a few years ago around my birthday. Thank you to everyone who donated. With your help, we are changing lives. This is what I mean when I say We rise by lifting others. These are words in action. God bless you all!”
In a statement accompanying the post, Davido whose real name is David Adeleke, said the donation was through The David Adeleke Foundation (DAF).
