The Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, has said it received over 20,000 applications for the recently advertised 4,700 teaching positions in public primary schools in the state.
Permanent Member of the board, Mr Joseph Mainasara, disclosed this during the ongoing screening exercise in Wamba on Monday.
He explained that only 4,700 successful candidates would be recruited for the job by the state government.
Mainasara said in order to ensure that only qualified candidates are employed, a written test will be conducted for those who pass the initial screening phase.
Meanwhile, teachers in public schools in the State had complained of poor welfare packages and dire infrastructural challenges that the government should addresse to improve the quality of education in the State.
