A communication mast belonging to a telecommunication firm located at Billy Okoye Boulevard Street, Agu-Awka, Awka., Anambra State has been razed by fire.
According to The PUNCH, the state fire chief, Martin Agbili, confirmed the incident, saying that the fire was later controlled and extinguished.
Agbili said, “At about 12.25 pm on Friday, the Anambra State Fire Service, received a distress call of a fire outbreak in an MTN mast at No 69, Dr Billy Okoye Boulevard Street, Agu-Awka.
“Immediately, we deployed our fire truck and gallant firefighters to the fire scene. The fire was later fought, controlled and extinguished.
“The generator at the mast site was completely damaged but other equipment at the site was saved.
Agbili, who also confirmed the incident, said, “At about 10.57 pm on Friday, the state fire service, received a distress call of fire outbreak at a residential home at No 2 Rockland Estate (Ngozika Estate extension), Awka.
“Immediately, we deployed our fire truck and gallant firefighters to the fire scene. We later fought the fire, controlled and extinguished it completely.”
