Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has warned Nigerians to refrain from using inflammatory language against the government.
Matwalle gave this warning in a statement in Abuja by the ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr Henshaw Ogbubike.
The Minister noted that the warning was against the backdrop of some unguarded utterances coming from some quarters of the country due to the security challenges in the country.
“Such comments are incitive and destructive and can exacerbate tensions and lead to violence in our beloved nation,” he said.
Matwalle disclosed that President Tinubu had the capacity and political will and is working round the clock to make Nigeria a better and more secure nation.
He equally identified the various policies the government had put in place to reposition and modernise the nation’s economy as well as to secure the lives, liberty and property of the citizenry.
The minister of state for defence explained that the Tinubu has given priority to the safety of citizens by equipping the Nigerian military to function optimally, while the service chiefs have also been saddle with the responsibility of rebuilding the capacity of the security services.
“Just recently, the president approved the creation of a committee that included the state governors and federal representatives that will explore, among other things, the possibility of establishing state police that will help in checking crimes,” he added.
