The First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians, especially Christians, to use the Lenten period to show more compassion to the needy and people around us.
Mrs Tinubu made this call in her personal message to Christians as the Lenten season started on Wednesday, adding that Nigeria should turn a new leaf in their own interest and that of the nation.
She equally urged Nigerians to use the period to contribute to the national growth and development by bringing something positive to the table.
“As we commence the Lenten season in fasting and atoning for sins committed, let us reflect on how we can turn a new leaf, for our own good, the good of our families, communities, and the nation as a whole.
“We Nigerians are a generous, caring and loving people, and times like these call for us to show more compassion to the needy and people around us.
“This is the time for us all to bring something to the table and contribute to the growth of our people and nation at large.
“May God grant all our requests and petitions, in Jesus Name.
“God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the First Lady said.
