President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice-President Kashm Shettima to represent him at the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Vice President made this known on his X handle on Saturday.
He wrote, “President @officialABAT, GCFR, has directed Vice President @KashimSM to lead a presidential delegation to the finals of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.
“The Vice President had also represented the President at the semi-finals when the Super Eagles defeated South Africa in a pulsating encounter.
“The Nigerian national team is set to face host, Côte d’Ivoire, in a thrilling rematch at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan on Sunday, February 11.
“The match will rekindle the memories of Nigeria’s 1-0 victory in the group stage secured through Captain William Troost-Ekong’s penalty.”
The statement came a few hours after Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), said Tinubu would be in Côte d’Ivoire for the final match.
Shettima was at the stadium for the Eagles’ semi-final game in Bouake, where the team defeated South Africa 4-2 on penalties.
The Super Eagles will face Côte d’Ivoire on Sunday by 6 pm.
