Confederation of African Football president, Dr. Patrice Motsepe has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be in Cote D’ivoire to watch the final of the 2023 Africa Cup Nations between Super Eagles and the host country on Sunday.
Motsepe made this disclosure on Friday during a chat with newsmen after meeting with CAF Member Associations’ Presidents ahead of the AFCON final.
The CAF president told journalist who asked him when Africa could host the FIFA World Cup again after South Africa did for the first time in 2010, he pointed out Tinubu will present at the Stade Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan to support the Super Eagles.
“Nigeria must put in a bid. The Nigerian president (Bola Tinubu) is coming to watch the final on Sunday. I will have a conversation with him about it.” he said.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kashim Shettima saw the Super Eagles beat South Africa 4-2 on penalties in the semi-final of AFCON 2023 on Wednesday after regulation and extra time had ended in a 1-1 draw.
