American rapper and activist, Michael Santiago, better known by his stage name as Killer Mike, was reportedly arrested shortly after he won three awards at the 66th Grammys.
This was made known in a post via X by a senior staff writer of Hollywood Reporter, Chris Gardner.
He said the rapper was taken away handcuffs in Crypto.com arena during telecast for the main categories.
The rapper was seen taking away by some law enforcement officers in a clip he shared via his X handle, with caption ‘Breaking: Rapper Killer Mike has been taken away in handcuffs in Crypto.com arena after winning 3 #Grammys during telecast (Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers,” Best Rap Album for Michael) “Free Mike” someone shouts as he walks past.”
He added, “An official tells someone on his team that it’s possible he may be released later tonight from the arena. Unclear if he’s being booked here and what he’s charged with. Trying to find out. #Grammys
“Just spoke to an official who tells me it’s a misdemeanor and has nothing to do with anything that happened today here inside the arena. Likely he will be released once it’s sorted. “It’s a big nothing,” source says
“No.” Someone on his team gave me a quick declined comment when asked what is going on and why he’s being detained.
“Harvey Mason Jr is now headed backstage after spending time here talking to security and Killer Mike’s team. The scene by security has calmed but Mike is still detained back there.”
Killer Mike, before his arrest was having the best night of his life with three Grammy wins, including Best Rap Song for ‘Scientists & Engineers’ with Andre 3000 featuring Future and Eryn Allen Kane.
The reason for his arrest is yet to be ascertained.
