The Imo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the devastating pipeline explosion that occurred on Wednesday in Obitti community, located in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state.
The incident resulted in the tragic loss of five lives.
According to The PUNCH, the spokesperson for the command Henry Okoye revealed that the state Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has initiated an investigation into the explosion.
The primary objective of this probe is to address the situation promptly and prevent any further economic sabotage within the state.
It would be recalled that some vandals had gone to a rubber estate in Obitti community and attempted to tamper with crude oil by digging through a pipeline in the community.
In an attempt to steal the crude oil, the pipeline caught fire and killed five persons.
