A Nigerian lady identified as Pelumi Nubi has begun a solo trip from London to Lagos by car.
She wants to make history as the first female to achieve this incredible feat.
Ordinarily, a London to Lagos journey takes six and a half hours on flight but she will be spending two months by car
In her preparation for the adventure, she has a customized car that has a compartment for the kitchen, washing and where she can sleep.
While speaking on the journey, the 29-year-old Globe trotter who had explored eight countries said, “I have done a preparation for the solo trip whereby I have spoken with other people that have definitely done similar trips.
“I have done a lot of research to know what it is like, where I will be able to cross and safest routes while I’m doing the solo trip. So I just want to make sure I’m quite responsible mentally and helping myself. I just know that it is possible. That’s really the message I want to convey.”
Explaining the task ahead, Pelumi who had already explored eight countries said, “This is very daring in comparison to others who have done mini-trials. This is long duration, more expensive in terms of cost and what it entails as a whole.
“It is really daring to step out of your comfort zone compare to other ones I have done in the past. This time I’m travelling to different continents, that’s different compared to other trips I have done previously. While doing this, I really want to experience every destination I step in.
On the number of countries, she said, “In total it is about 17 countries whereby I want to explore some European countries, crossing to Morocco and making my way to West African countries.
In her bid to showcase Africa to young black girls and motivate others to step out from their comfort zones, Pelumi said, “I just want to show that this kind of journey is very possible for someone that looks like me and really inspire the next generation of travellers that they can step out of their comfort zones and do incredible things.”
The 29-year-old is expected to begin her trip from England through France, Spain, Morocco, the West Sahara Desert, Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin, and finally, Lagos.
