The Jigawa State Government has set up five special courts to try violators of the environmental sanitation laws in the state.
This was made known by the Commissioner of Environment, Dr Nura Ibrahim Dandoka, while speaking with newsmen during January environment sanitation exercise in Dutse, the state capital.
The Sate Governor, Malam Umar Namadi leads the state executives, legislators, civil servants and party stalwarts to observe the monthly environmental sanitation.
Dandoka said the courts are aimed at enforcing the environment and sanitation laws in the state.
He made it clear that the courts are in Dutse, Hadejia, Kazaure, Gumel and Ringim headquarters of the five emirate councils.
The Commissioner disclosed that the state monthly environmental sanitation law restricts movement, including of all economic and social activities from 7:00 am to 10:00am for every householder and members of the families to clean and sanitise their environment on every last Saturday.
“Currently all the 27 local government area of the state are directed to mobilise community organisations, Self- help Groups and the general public to join the exercise while all necessary support will be given from the state government for achieving the desired goals ” the commissioner declared.
