Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has urged his players to focus on their next game against Angola in the quarter-finals in ongoing 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote D’ivoire.
Peseiro gave this urge while speaking with newsmen at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in post-match speech.
The Nigeria’s side have defeated two of the continent’s heavyweights, Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon at the 34th edition of the AFCON.
Their latest victory against the Indomitable Lions saw them advance to the quarter-finals.
Angola continued their impressive showing at the AFCON 2023 finals with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Namibia on Saturday.
The Portuguese warned his players of the threat posed by the Palancas Negras and noting that it is important for them to take the opponent seriously.
“We will now focus on our next match against Angola, which is having an excellent tournament.
“We must take this opponent seriously, so we will continue to sleep early and eat pasta (laughs). Jokes aside, all the teams at this stage are capable of winning the tournament”, Peseiro said.
With the win, the three-tine African champions will now play Angola in the quarter-finals February 2, as they hope to claim a fourth continental title after previous wins in 1980, 1994 and 2013.
