In a somber and emotional ceremony, the late Dowen College student, Sylvester Oromoni, was finally laid to rest, bringing closure to a tragic incident that occurred over two years ago.
As reported by The PUNCH, the 12-year-old pupil was buried on Saturday in his family’s compound in Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South West LGA of Delta.
The atmosphere was heavy with grief as family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to bid farewell to a young life taken too soon.

Drawing inspiration from the book of Isaiah 57:1-2, titled ‘Forever With The Lord,’ he urged Christians to live a life worthy of emulation, reminding them of the importance of striving to become heavenly candidates.
Renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, paid tribute to the deceased, describing Sylvester as “a great Nigerian whose life was cut short.” With a heavy heart, he acknowledged the profound impact Sylvester had on his teachers, friends, and fellow students, emphasizing the loss experienced by the entire community. ”
Falana also expressed gratitude to Sylvester’s parents for their unwavering resolve in their pursuit of justice for their beloved son.
The tragic incident that claimed Sylvester’s life shook the nation, prompting widespread calls for justice.
In November 2021, Sylvester allegedly endured a brutal beating by five of his colleagues, which tragically led to his untimely death.
The subsequent investigation and legal proceedings have been a long and arduous journey for his grieving family.
However, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. Just recently, during the final written addresses of the parties involved in the case, Magistrate Mikhail Kadiri, presiding over the coroner’s inquest on Oromoni, announced that the court’s decision would be revealed on April 12.
